In conjunction with Showing World magazine, the Showing Council hosted the first Showing Council Awards at a reception at the Hilton Hotel Birmingham, forming a glittering prelude to the Horse of the Year Show. There were six nominations in each of the categories, and very generous sponsorship from a number of companies, which provided prizes for every nominee together with trophies.
