The Spillers Unsung Hero of the Year, presented by Vanessa Allen (SPILLERS Equine Sports Nutritionist) went to Jane Boyden, whose dedication over the last couple of years, in supporting her friend Davina Johnson, has been outstanding. Jane has travelled to most the qualifiers, getting up at ridiculously early times, sleeping in the trailer at overnight and providing banter and laughs along the way. She is always on the end of the phone and we’ve shared lots of ups and downs over the last couple of seasons, jane is always there to pick up Davina when things go devastatingly wrong.
The BSPS Personality of the Year, sponsored by The Showing Journal, was presented by the Editor, Jeanetta La-Four, to the very deserving recipient, Marilyn Ludlow. Marilyn has been an Area Chairmen for many years, Chief Steward of the Working Hunter Pony Ring at the BSPS Championships Show, and a regular helper at the BSPS Judges Assessment Day. Marilyn is also know for her work with the Children’s Entertainment at the BSPS Summer Championships and her contribution towards the BSPS Ball every year.
The Absorbine Best County/Agricultural Show, went to The Suffolk County Show. This very popular show is organised by the Suffolk Agricultural Association and is part of their 188 year history. The show is the largest two-day visitor experience in the county. The Suffolk Show, which is one of the UK’s oldest county shows, is a unique celebration of everything that makes the county great and showcases the best of Suffolk’s food, farming and agricultural heritage. The Suffolk Agricultural Association is a charity whose aim is to promote food, farming and the countryside and its importance to Suffolk. Presenting the award on the night, on behalf of Absorbine, was Mr David Ingle, Chairman of The Showing Council.
The Equinational Volunteer of the Year was awarded to Janet James, nominated by the NPS for her exceptional help and support, stewarding and helping at shows for over 40 years. Janet started by served her apprenticeship at local Riding Club, before graduating to other shows whilst continuing helping at grass roots level. “I have been fortunate to have had hands on guidance from many respected senior Stewards, Judges and Show Organisers”. Janet held the role of NPS Chief Steward for numerous years, we she appreciated the hard work and dedication of the team she worked with. The Award was presented by the sponsor, Colin Nicholas of Equinational Photography.
